Daily Share - Students shared about their weekend or other exciting news (advanced communication skills).
NOTE: My Tuesday class completed a Valentine's Packet (see SOAR folder), and left early due to classroom celebrations. See below for Wednesday's activities. Both classes completed the PBL portion described below.
Brain Booster - Can you solve it? It's easy. Click here.
Analogies - Students explored a variety of math and word analogies. Students learned some new words today. Ask your child if he/she remembers any of the words (see SOAR folder) (Higher order thinking skills).
PBL "How can I, as a biologist, recommend the best habitats to our local Zoo or Aquarium?" - After watching a video on the grasslands, students used tablets to conduct Internet research to explore 5 grassland facts. The children listed their chosen facts on the grassland page of their Biome Book. Next, students found three animals to include on their grassland page. Last, students wrote 2 facts about each animal. (advanced communication skills, creativity skills).
Math Stars - I gave the children an assortment of math activities to give them a math challenge for the day. The packets included everything from symmetry, money, graphs, etc. Partners worked together to solve the problems and everyone was stumped at least once or twice (see SOAR folder) (higher level thinking skills).
Centers - Students played chess, Pivot, Keva Blocks, and Qwirkle to round out the day.
