Brain Booster - Can you solve it? Not one child could solve today’s brain booster. Axum admitted to knowing the solution, because he has seen the problem. Remember to think creatively.

Analogies - Numerator is to Fraction as _________ is to Flower (higher level/critical thinking skills).
Creativity/Critical Thinking – We discussed book covers, and then the students had to come up with a title and design a book cover that would be appealing to their audience. This activity promotes creative thinking as we move onto our game designs. (creativity/logic thinking skills).
Game/Business PBL – Student pairs continued to work on their games. We’re beginning to write the rules and sketch our designs onto paper. We’re also brainstorming if we need to 3D print pieces for our games. Students will have the opportunity to 3D print pieces/dice for their game. I am new to 3D printing, but I have been attending training sessions and teaching myself. Also, Rhyland’s dad, Reggie, has agreed to assist on the 3D printing days to offer additional support. That said, I can’t guarantee beautifully printed pieces; however, the children will have exposure to the design and technology of 3D printing. Students may begin collecting materials at home if needed (reading comprehension, higher level thinking skills).
Tinkercad – As part of the 3D printing process, students will use a free design program called Tinkercad. Next week students will log onto my account to design their pieces for 3D printing. I told the children that they’re welcome to create an account using a parent’s e-mail address (Go to Tinkercad.com). I explained that they will need your permission. Additionally, they will need the e-mail and password information next Thursday to access their work. This is optional!
Math – Today students tackled a variety of math problems. The problems included subtracting with regrouping, multiple digit multiplication, and long division. Today was quite the lesson in having a base foundation of multiplication/division facts.
