It’s crunch time - PBL. We are mostly working on our PBL project, “How can I design a fun and educational science game that engages students, teachers, and parents?” We are following the Design Process to design our games and are close to entering the “create” phase.
We have researched the 3rd science standards, and the students are working on a Google Doc to write the rules for their science game. Students have choice as to what type of game they want to create – board, card, etc. They will also have choice as to how they want to advertise their game – film a commercial, create a coded commercial on Scratch Jr., etc.
When we start creating the games the week following Thanksgiving, I will have most of the materials for creation. However, please talk to your child about his/her material list. During our brainstorming session, we discussed that we’ll need (from home): card board, game pieces, dice. If you’re able, please cut the card board into large squares – think board for a board game. I also need some regular poster board – white or colored. Any donations are appreciated J
Lastly, we will silent auction our games on PBL night. Students will choose how we’ll spend our raised money – donate to a charity or spend in the classroom. More details to follow.
