Gomuku (A Japanese X and O strategy game). This game uses higher level thinking skills and logic to be the first person to place 5 Xs or Os in a row - vertically, horizontally, or diagonally). (higher level thinking and logic skills)
Turn Around Numbers - This activity tapped into students' number sense skills. I read instructions as the class tried to figure out the next number. (higher level thinking skills, number sense to 100)

PBL "How does Design Impact Flight?" - Today we took a break from researching and experimenting how things fly and discussed the Design Process. We are beginning to think about what flying machine we hope to improve/invent. In a class discussion we listed things that fly and possible improvements. Next, students wrote a flying item on a note-card, and I created pairs/groups of three based on students' responses. Last, students began researching their item with their partner/group (advanced research skills, creativity skills).
Rhyming and Letter Codes - We completed a couple of word activities that aid in word rhyming and sounds. (see SOAR folder) (advanced communication skills, higher level thinking skills)
Centers - Dizios, Qwirkle, iPads (Cool Math Games), Analogies/Rush Hour, Keva, Legos
