As soon as students arrived, I gave final instructions and we began designing our flight machines of the future.
Ask you child about his/her machine and make sure to challenge him/her with questions such as:
1. How does it work?
2. How is it different from a current (drone, rocket, plane, etc.)?
3. Do you know the parts?
4. How will you present your machine to the class?
On May 15 students will complete their designs, write an advertisement promoting their machine, and present the machine to the class.
S - Researching flight and how machines fly (thrust, drag, lift, and weight)
T - Using tablets to research.
E - Building the Machine.
A - Illustrating the machine, writing an advertisement for the machine.
M - Calculating the average of flights of paper planes.
(NOTE: I will not meet with students next Monday, May 8th. I will be attending the 3rd-5th grade gifted college tour in Huntsville, AL.).
