Daily Share – (communication skills)
Analogies - nourish is to starve as day is to _____ (higher level/critical thinking skills).
Research - Students completed a research activity on Jellyfish. Students worked in pairs to complete a Web Quest. No marks given – this was a learning/practice experience (advanced research skills).
PBL/Ocean - We reviewed our previous vocabulary words: (entirely, bacteria, utilize, nourish). We also discussed how animals in the Midnight Zone utilize bacteria to nourish themselves. Last, students used the tablets to find 5 animals, of their choice, to label and illustrate in their Ocean books (higher level and advanced research skills).
Critical Thinking – We continued solving logic elimination puzzles. Ask your child how he/she feels about these. If they seem somewhat confused, maybe you can spend some one on one time with your child. We will continue to do these and they get harder. I also explain to the class that a check minus simple means that they are learning something new. – See SOAR folder (higher level thinking skills).
Game Centers: Dizios, Q-Bits, Mental Blox, Rush Hour, Reading, Connect 4) (higher level thinking skills)
Since we meet once per week, we will not have finished products for this week’s PBL Night. I will be here, but I’ll be checking out the PBL work of my students. If you stop by and I’m in the room, you can check our your child’s Ocean Book – in progress.
