Analogies - 15+5 is to 20 as 35+5 is to _____ (higher level/critical thinking skills).
Research - Students completed a research activity on Squids. Students worked in pairs to complete a Web Quest. We discussed rephrasing questions to find our answers and determining how to find the best web page. For example, our first question yielded almost 4,000,000 results – that’s a bit much (advanced research skills).
PBL/Ocean - Today we finally made it deep into the Abyss. We learned some news words as we read about the abyss: (scarce, unique, infamous, ingest). When we finished reading, we completed our abyss zone book page. Last, we watched a video of some of the unique creatures that live in the abyss (higher level thinking & advanced research skills).
Creativity – We designed our own ocean animals. Students gave their ocean animal a name and labeled its parts. Students explained how their animal moves, which zone it lives, and what it eats (creativity skills).
Critical Thinking – We continued solving logic elimination puzzles. Please refer to last Friday’s e-mails if your child struggles with or enjoys these logic puzzles (higher level thinking skills).
